What makes the CasaGIN brand truly unique?
We launched the CasaGIN brand two years ago and the success we are getting has exceeded our expectations. That’s why, a few weeks after our second birthday, we want to talk to you about how this young community was born and what are the values that have guided us since birth, but above all why every day more and more people choose to wear our clothes. CasaGIN is inspired by a great love for nature and the desire to create something positive for people and the environment. It represents a place of harmony and well-being, designed for those looking for a sustainable and conscious lifestyle, where to find products that are good for health and the planet. We believe that everything we come in contact with, gives us its energy: what we eat, touch and wear. We wondered if clothing could also convey positive feelings to us. And that’s why we searched, tried and tested many fabrics before choosing the most suitable ones to create our garments. And we found the best, for the skin and the environment.
Concerned about our well-being and that of our land, we have chosen to use only ecologically revolutionary fibers, natural, organic, recycled and biodegradable, such as TENCEL Lyocell, derived from the eucalyptus leaf. But what is it more specifically?
TENCEL Lyocell is produced with environmentally friendly processes, starting from wood of sustainable origin. Made for the first time in Mobile in Alabama, almost 30 years ago, TENCEL Lyocell is now at the center of attention as it is a plant-based fiber widely used for clothing. There are several brands that are investing in this soft and silky fabric, able to give the garments a fresh and natural look, giving the wearer a real feeling of well-being.
Everything starts from the wood and more precisely from the eucalyptus. After being harvested, the wood is cut into pieces and ground into pulp, through a process that involves the use of a solvent belonging to the family of amino acids, which is also used in body care products, whose absence of risks it is proven in dermatology and toxicology. What remains is the raw cellulose, a viscous liquid whose mixture is pushed through spinnerets that allow the emergence of white and glossy TENCEL Lyocell fibers which, after washing and drying, are ready to be spun and finally woven to make wonderful clothes, like those of CasaGIN.
TENCEL Lyocell can have many different textures, but the base fabric is soft to the touch. It is hypoallergenic and sweat resistant and it has an absorption capacity 50% higher than cotton. That’s why it’s perfect for sports like yoga, pilates, trekking and winter sports. Soft as silk but tough as polyester, this natural fiber is also extraordinarily breathable. These are the three key advantages that TENCEL Lyocell offers compared to many other alternatives, as also stated by Robert van de Kerkhof, commercial director of Lenzing, the Austrian company from which we, at CasaGIN, buy this truly innovative and sustainable fiber. Sustainable because eucalyptus trees grow rapidly, without artificial irrigation and practically without pesticides, on land that is no longer suitable for growing food. TENCEL Lyocell production does not use toxic chemicals and 99.5% of the dissolution agent can be used repeatedly. Compared to cotton, TENCEL Lyocell has the potential to use less than half the amount of water in production. The breathability of the fabric is also excellent for the planet, since it can be washed less frequently, leading to great water savings. This is why at CasaGIN we have chosen this extraordinary material. Soft and breathable, light and comfortable, TENCEL Lyocell is made to last a long time. Its elasticity and resistance make it suitable for those looking for a garment that lasts long, thus avoiding unnecessary waste and too frequent changes of the wardrobe.
In short, TENCEL Lyocell is a new fiber that represents a milestone in the development of environmentally sustainable fabrics. Furthermore, in addition to purchasing the raw material from an Austrian company certified Oeko Tex 100 and GOTS, at CasaGIN we have chosen to follow each production phase in an ethical way, in small Italian companies where textile work is still a manufacturing art. Our suppliers are at 0 km, small Venetian companies where the passion of every single person makes the difference. The spinning, dyeing, weaving and more general production of our garments are followed in Italy. This is why we can speak of true Made in Italy. Environmental protection and attention to people’s health start with our behavior. It is on the basis of this inspiration that we have built the CasaGIN philosophy.
