Plastics production has accelerated in recent years, with a forecast estimated at around 600 million tonnes by 2030 . Most of these materials are non-biodegradable and approximately 50% are produced for single-use applications. All this causes serious environmental damage, especially when the materials in question reach the end of their life cycle. New biodegradable solutions and better recycling strategies are two promising approaches to ensuring a greener future for our planet.



This is why at CasaGIN we pay ever greater attention to research and development . Ours is a young company, but no less attentive to modern consumer dynamics. Indeed, the pillars on which our reality is based are precisely attention to materials and the environment; the watchwords innovation and strategy. This is why greater attention to the consumption of biodegradable plastic and nylon is a potential solution to the global waste problem. It is from this reflection that we started to introduce the new packaging that characterizes all the products of our brand. In fact, for a few months now, the packaging of each CasaGIN garment has been made of bioplastic, a polymer produced from organic raw materials, in technical jargon polylactic acid (PLA): a material that is not only biodegradable but even compostable.


 

But being sustainable also means investing in clothing that lasts over time. This is why in addition to packaging, at CasaGIN we are committed to modernizing sportswear too, with the introduction of a new project: Be.GiN. We have created three lines of sportswear to satisfy the needs of all enthusiasts; a project to which anyone can actively contribute on KickStarter . And to do this we have searched, tested and selected the best fabrics on the market, from the point of view of performance but also of environmental impact. We have combined high-performance materials with extremely soft and light fabrics. In this way we have managed to obtain products whose characteristics satisfy the needs of the most demanding athletes - such as breathability, technicality, softness and lightness. All this was achieved in a sustainable way, with regenerated and biodegradable fibres, and through the use of an innovative water-based printing technique.

The most important step was to move from fabrics of natural origin to synthetic fabrics, more suitable for sports-type activities. But to do this we have followed the path of sustainability, that is, selecting recycled and biodegradable synthetic fibres, capable of minimizing their footprint on the environment. A virtuous example in this sense is the use of fibers with accelerated biodegradability, whose special composition facilitates, in anaerobic landfill conditions, the access and digestion of waste material by bacteria, accelerating the biodegradation process, decomposing organically so as to be exploited as new resources for the environment and for energy cogeneration, ensuring a reduced environmental impact. A circular economy model, capable of giving new life to those garments that have ended their life. Like Econyl , a nylon recycled by recovering textile waste and fishing nets abandoned in the seas around the world; which together with the Amni Soul Eco® Polyamide and the elastomer of the Eco Smart Roica™ range makes the combination of advanced technology fibers unique, used to produce fabrics characterized by excellent performance: lightness, quick drying and a high moisture management capacity, as well as great resistance to wear and abrasion.


 

Our real challenge was to recover high-performance fabrics without compromise and respecting nature. Greenperforming technology is the concept that best summarizes the incessant commitment of our partners in the development of sustainable and high-performance solutions at the same time. To give an idea of ​​the commitment made in this sense, just think that in the production of the yarns, 30% of cubic meters of water consumed per kg of fabric produced, 25% of tonnes of CO2 emitted into the atmosphere were saved, and the equivalent of 90,000 plastic bottles. Finally, the choice to undergo international certifications is the guarantee of constant commitment and attention that our collaborating companies dedicate to their work, to their employees and to the resulting product: OEKO-TEX , Bluesign and ISO are just some of these, which contribute to ensuring a responsible and more sustainable production system.
